end slavery ministries Ecuador

As a student at Cornerstone University I participated in Enactus, which is a social entrepreneurship organization for college students. I was a project leader for the EsperanzArt project through Enactus. EsperanzArt is a part of End Slavery Ministries Ecuador. Through it, women who are victims of sexual abuse and/or trafficking make a living and learn a trade making jewelry. As project leader, I was responsible for overseeing a team of college students dedicated to the needs of EsperanzArt. We oversaw shipping and inventory of the product, social media marketing and management, website design, product pop up shops and placement in stores, and more. In the summer of 2019, My co-leader and I travelled to Quito, Ecuador, where EsperanzArt is located. We met with the manager of EsperanzArt and strategized marketing and business plans, did a photo shoot for the jewlery line, and spent considerable time with the women who are a part of EsperanzArt.

In the Summer of 2021 I worked with End Slavery Ministries Ecuador which is based in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. ESME has four branches: Casa Adalia, Caminos de Libertad, Amadas, and Second Chances. Casa Adalia is a home for young women who have been sexually abused and/or prostituted, as well as their children. Casa Adalia not only provides a place to live but a way of making money and learning a trade through EsperanzArt as well as education and counseling services. Caminos de Libertad is the non-residential program for women who have a safe place to live but desire the other services the program provides. Amadas is the street ministry to people in prositution. The team goes to the Center regularly to show the women that they are there for them and that there are options outside of the life. In the midst of the pandemic, they also began providing groceries. Second Chances is a home for former street boys that equips them to be young men who represent Christ with honor.

I served as the communications and media intern. I took pictures, conducted interviews, translated content, wrote updates and more. It was an honor and privilege to see what God does through ESME and partner with them for the summer.
